City goes back to back, wins 2nd consecutive 2A title

After going through an extremely tough Baltimore City league schedule and a treacherous 2A Region one might have expected the Knights of Baltimore City College to coast to victory in their MPSSAA 2A final contest against a 5 loss squad from Gwynn Park. While it wasn't easy, or pretty, the Knights got a 19 point performance from star guard Nick Faust and a tremendous defensive effort to capture their second straight state title, with a 56-45 victory at the University of Maryland's Comcast Center.

All year long Milford Mill coach Al Holley preached to his players as long as they played together as a team, they would have a successful season. Saturday's MPSSAA 3A title game at the Comcast Center was the perfect picture of those results as Milford Mill got a complete team effort in a dominating 60-46 victory over Thomas Stone, to capture their first state title since 1994.

Huge 4th quarter from Alston leads Dunbar to the 1A title

In Friday's semifinal against Allegany, Dunbar reserve guard Iakeem Alston played a total of three minutes and did not score a point, as star guard Derrell Edwards carried the Poets to victory. In Saturday's 1A MPSSAA final matchup against Owings Mills the Poets needed Alston's spark off the bench, as he helped break open a tight game, scoring 13 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter to lead Dunbar to a 64-53 victory. The win was the 12th title for Dunbar overall, leaving them just two behind Allegany for most of all time,

2A Final: City vs. Gwynn Park

City College looks to defend their 2A title and Gwynn Park looks for their 11th championship as the Knights and Yellow Jacket faceoff in the 2A State Championship. City College is led by Jordan Latham (Xavier), Nick Faust, and Charles Tapper.



3A Final: Thomas Stone vs. Milford Mill

Stone is looking for their first title since 1972 and Milford Mill is looking for their first since 1994.
