In front of a jam packed, highly energized crowd on the campus of Lake Clifton High School, senior Laker Josh Selby put on a show for the ages, scoring 41 points, as #10 Lake Clifton defeated the #3 ranked Knights of City College 69-61. Selby scored from everywhere and from every angle on the court, hitting three's, fadeaway jumpers and putting on a slam dunk clinic. He also added 5 assissts, 4 rebounds and 6 steals as the Lakers never trailed in this matchup of top contenders for the City championship.

Jordan Latham led City with 18 points and 6 rebounds, and Michael Cheatum(13 points) and Nick Faust(12 points)also scored in double figures. Faust, one of City's top scorers on the season, struggled to find his shot early on, as he was 0-5 shooting in the first half and 0-8 from behind the 3 point line until finally making his last two in the final minute of the game.

The first quarter was dominated by Lake as they jumped out to an 11-4 lead, with Selby scoring 9 of those points. A three by Selby gave the Lakers an 18-5 lead before City scored it's first basket of the game with just 7 seconds left in the quarter to cut the lead to 18-7 after one.

The second quarter was more of the same as Lake built it's biggest lead of the game after back to back breakaway dunks by Selby upped the lead to 25-11 and the gymnasium felt as though the roof may come off. Latham got his turn a few minutes later as his rim jarring slam got the City crowd into the action and the Lake lead was back to 10. Selby would get the last hurrah of the half as he stole a pass along the City sideline and threw a perfect outlet pass to a streaking Kyree Watson(7points) for a thunderous slam, and a 29-17 lead at the break. Selby finished the 1st half with 18 points and City was held to 5-24 shooting in the half, including 0-7 from behind the arc.

Cheatum opened the second half with back to back three's to cut the Lake lead to 8 , but Selby responded with a drive right down the lane between 2 City defenders for an acrobatic bucket and one to push the lead back to 11. Faust finally scored his first two points of the game midway through the third to get City back within 7 at 39-32, but again Selby responded with an end to end basket, and a steal and another rim rattling slam dunk to ignite the Lake crowd, upping the lead to 13.

A three by Durand Johnson gave the Lakers a 48-36 lead a minute into the 4th quarter, but City was not to be counted out. The Knights went on an 8-0 run to cut the lead to 4 with 5 minutes still remaining. Leron Fisher got a huge bucket to stop the City momentum and Johnson added a strong drive for a basket as Lake was in control with a 9 point lead and only 3 minutes remaining. A three pointer by Cheatum cut the lead to 6 with 34 seconds left, so Selby had one more response left in him. He made 2 free throws, and then grabbed a rebound off a City miss and took it the length of the court for a final exclamation point slam.

The Josh Selby show, catch it while you can!
